The walk is a mixture of hard going on groughs and moorland, a busy part of the Pennine way and a flat cycle path to finish with. Walking boots are a must, gaiters recommended (but not essential) and pack enough food and drink for 8 hours walking.

From Woodhead, We will work hard to get up to Bleaklow stones, then continuing across groughs and moorland across Bleaklow hill, to Bleaklow head and the Pennine way. We then descend the Pennine way to near Crowden, then follow the Longdendale trail back to the car.
