Parking and Meeting Point: Belper Riverside Gardens Car Park on Matlock Road, Belper, Derbyshire. There is a pay and display machine, nearest Post Code: DE56 1FE.

Route: Belper Bridge followed by Wyver Lane, Scotches, Wyver Farm, Wyver Wood, Gorses, Midshires Way, Holly House, Blackbrook, Farnah Green, Chevin Mount, River Derwent then back to the Car Park. The walk is a moderate walk but will be taken at a leisurely pace.

There is an option, if people are interested, of going into the pub in Farnah Green.

Please note that some of the fields on the route have cattle including bulls. The route may not be suitable for dogs.

One Step Walkers was founded in 2010, we are part of the Nottinghamshire area of the Ramblers. We now have 200+ members, from a variety of backgrounds and age groups but all with a common love of the countryside. Why not join us in some of our activities?

This is one of many walks for ages 40+ all led by our experienced walk leaders.

You’re welcome to join us on any of our walks to see if One Step Walkers is for you. Then, once you’ve enjoyed the views, fun, exhilaration and good company, it’s just a case of becoming a member.

Do make sure you're fit enough and have the right footwear and clothing for the walk you want to do. You can contact the group or leader if in doubt.

Walks for anyone who does not have a mobility difficulty, a specific health problem or is seriously unfit. Suitable for pushchairs if they can be lifted over occasional obstructions. Comfortable shoes or trainers can be worn.


Walks for reasonably fit people with at least a little country walking experience. May include unsurfaced rural paths. Walking boots and warm, waterproof clothing are recommended.


Walks for people with country walking experience and a good level of fitness. May include some steep paths and open country, and may be at a brisk pace. Walking boots and warm, waterproof clothing are essential.


Walks for experienced country walkers with an above average fitness level. May include hills and rough country, and may be at a brisk pace. Walking boots and warm, waterproof clothing are essential. People in doubt about their fitness should contact the walk leader in advance.


Walks for experienced and very fit walkers with additional technical skills. May require scrambling and use of ice axes or crampons. You must contact the walk leader in advance for further details.
